Muted Shades

With the sun lowering earlier in the afternoons,
wintery muted shades of colour spread across the sky.
Individual sences emerge,
wonderful to savour before the sun finally falls into night.

Willett Hill

A walk taken a few weeks ago in the Somerset countryside.

It is definitely a hill!
 But thankfully,
 a gradual gradient,
walking through woodland in a spiral direction. . . .

Finally,
with a walk through the bracken flanked with small trees,
the top of the hill was in sight.

The ruin of Willett Tower. . . .

Over the hill, looking back,
the tower is shadowed with the lowering sun.

But, what an amazing view, the Somerset countryside

Watchful!

Recently, with trying to access a footpath,
I had to pass through  a field of cows,
I even interrupted the above cow,
right in the middle of feeding!
How inconsiderate of me!

They were forever watchful,
while I walked to the otherside of the field to access the other gate

One even became braver.
I promptly shut the gate behind me
& continued with my walk.

Puppy Sitting

A weekend away led me to the countryside of North Devon,
spending time in a very quiet & tranquil  village setting, with a pub a short distance from the house.
 Perfect for an evening meal.

But, although it was a weekend away,
we were taking care of an 11 week old puppy,
 a cocker spaniel/springer spaniel.
He was very adorable, could easily have taken him home,
 although I think Max,
my black labrador would have had something to say about that,
 if only he could talk!

The puppy was very content with simple things, such as the Ikea bag,
& even my handbag, which his sharp teeth started to chew.
Not much damage though,
can be repaired quite adequately.
The experience certainly reminded me of when my dog was a pup. . . .

With a drive out on the Saturday,
we were able to see some stunning  views of the local countryside,
besides being so close to the coast.

A real haven,
a peaceful & quiet weekend with some exploring,
 an enjoyable mini break!

& of the world I get the chance to encounter.

Images such as these cloud formations are very eye catching,
