Mothering Sunday

Last Sunday, Mothering Sunday in the UK,
 my daughter & her boyfriend,
decided to take both their respective Mother's,
to see the latest Walt Disney film of 'Alice in Wonderland'.

I was a bit dubious, wondering whether I would actually enjoy the film,
but although I had heard mixed reviews, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The characters portrayed were unique.
The Mad Hatter was a very suitable role for Johnny Depp.
The combination of animation & human acting was a brilliant blend of filming.

And, this film had to be watched in 3D!
Lucy & I were at the ready with the glasses provided. . . .

The Hen House

My neighbours have been extremely busy during winter,
 weather permitting,
rearranging part of their garden,
& constructing an area in preparation for chickens.

They've choosen various breds, 6 altogether.
With Easter only a few weeks away together,
 with the thought of Spring,
They are certainly a lovely addition to the garden.

I'm sure my neighbours can't wait until they start laying their eggs.
Hopefully they'll have fresh eggs for Easter weekend!

Sunday Walking

An enjoyable walk in East Quantoxhead & the Quantocks,
 close to Kilve & Holford.
The collage above,
highlights some of the things we saw,
 even Camilla's in flower,
 a beautiful bit of  colour.

Good to see some broom in flower,
 although such a prickly plant!

Sheep roamed on the hillsides of the Quantocks. . . .

Discovered various Fungi,
these presented themselves on fallen branches,
 in amongst the decayed bracken.

Even enjoyed a Sunday lunch at The Hooded Arms Inn, Kilve.
A perfect end to the walk.

A Dash of Spring

On walking through one of the parks,
it was a delight to see so many crocuses out in flower.
Although some yellow,  many were of  mauve/white.

A lovely touch of encouragement for Spring,
especially as the weather was a perfect match today.

Welcome Colour

To help celebrate my birthday,
my Aunt had sent me a lovely bouquet of carnations & freesias.
After all the dismal weather of late,
all these colours were very uplifting.

Enjoyed a day out in London,
& I was thoroughly spoilt by family & friends.
Spoilt myself by taking a couple days off work,
so still enjoying my long weekend.

Look forward to more of these colours as we get closer to Spring.

A Touch of Frost

Very chilly mornings with the frosty weather,

but what an effect on the plants.

Stray Feathers

With another walk around Slimbridge,
Wetlands for Geese, Ducks & Birds,
plenty of loose feathers can be sighted on the ground,
 or even more eyecatching,
becoming caught in plants & trees,
often delicately blowing in the wind.

A Changing Season

Signs starting to show,
that the winter season is beginning to change . . . .
Hints of growth begin to emerge.
From blossom to catkins. . . .

From Snowdrops . . . .

To Pussy Willow.

A fallen flowerhead,
showing how beautifully detailed & colourful the inside of a Snowdrop really is.

The teasels that remain from the Autumn & Winter add to the charm.
The days of daylight becoming longer . . .
Very encouraging. . . .
