Frosty...

Frosty weather certainly do transform
the plants in the garden....

And even the leaves on the ground.

Winter Colour

Although in recent weeks,
the main colour to emerge this winter has been the white stuff,
 Snow!
There is definite evidence of the lovely warm colour of red.
So many shrubs & plants with red berries,
a sign of an extreme winter?
Clusters of Rosehips

All of this mixed in with
the last of Autumn colour foilage

And, such a surprise on a very bitterly cold day,
 following a recent snowfall,
Small, but Bright Pink roses in full bloom!
Only just surviving I'm sure,
due to the shelter of the thick stone grey garden wall.
But a welcome sight nevertheless.

Seasonal Changes at Hestercombe Gardens

The Autumn colours are now starting to settle in. . . .

The transformed leaves of various shades of red,
brown & yellow are now falling into nestled heaps. . .

Plants may be shedding there spring & summer colour,
but the vibriant red of Autumn is stunning indeed!

Even the dead flowerheads of the blue thistle,
 still offers a new dimension,
 to this ever creeping season.

Beauty

Really  enjoyed the various blossoms,
an essential flower to let us know the growing season is in full swing.

Another beauty of Spring, the Bluebell.
I like the solitary flowerhead,
but also a very impressive flower when seen in a mass.
A really beautiful colour.

Garden Additions

Everything seems to be blossoming
into full bloom with such lovely results.

Even shrubs producing their flower heads to trees,

Such as the Magnolia tree,
a magnificant show until the full leave appears.

But, alas,
we have to wait just a wee bit longer
for the lilac to produce it's stunning mauve flowers.

The Hen House

My neighbours have been extremely busy during winter,
 weather permitting,
rearranging part of their garden,
& constructing an area in preparation for chickens.

They've choosen various breds, 6 altogether.
With Easter only a few weeks away together,
 with the thought of Spring,
They are certainly a lovely addition to the garden.

I'm sure my neighbours can't wait until they start laying their eggs.
Hopefully they'll have fresh eggs for Easter weekend!

A Touch of Frost

Very chilly mornings with the frosty weather,

but what an effect on the plants.
